There are plenty of news stories in the legal press this month, as it seems the whole profession is returning to work from the holiday season. There are plenty of regulatory articles, perhaps not surprisingly ahead of the move to the new Regulations in England & Wales on 25 November. Elsewhere there is a real mix, with some reports of fee income progression and elsewhere pessimism around legal aid in both Scotland and England & Wales. Generally, our own benchmarking shows that the fortunes of most law firms improving, albeit commercial property and corporate transactions are slowing potentially as a result of the Brexit uncertainties.
